Protecting your home is one of the most important insurance policies you will need.  Just think it is probably one of the biggest investments you will make in your lifetime.  So picking the correct home insurance policy is a must do.  Like Auto Insurance Homeowner’s Insurance is going to vary from company to company.  One of the easiest ways to compare rates and have a local agent is by calling an independent agent.  By having a local agent they can meet and talk to you even at your house to make sure you’re protected.  All home insurance is not created equally so you really do need the help of an agent.  Some policies won’t cover wind damage.  Living here is Kansas City, MO you would not want to go without that coverage.

One of the first things to check is the protection plan.  Does it cover 100% of the replacement costs?  Some insurance companies will even go up to 150% of the limits of your policy.  Contact your local agent for more information on this homeowner’s policy.

Some insurance companies offer a “New for Old” Protection on your possessions.  This will pay the cost of replacing your possessions no matter the age or condition with a new one of equal quality.

This is one of my favorites because insurance is not designed to be nickel and dimes for the lower amounts the homeowner’s policy is more designed for a substantial loss.  There is a policy that if you have a qualifying loss over $22,500 they will waive the deductible up to $5,000!  *** This coverage does have some restrictions which your local insurance agent will have to go over with you.***

Always remember to tell your agent about any special collections you might have.  You will want to get a special policy to cover these items.  For example: coin collection, stamp collection, special china, gun collection, fur collection anything you think of you need to let your agent know about it so they can make sure it is covered for its value as many of these items may not be covered in a Home Insurance policy.

Call your local agent today.  They can help you review your current policy or setup a new one for you.
